The Mitsubishi Pajero Evolution is a vehicle specially developed for the Dakar Rally and similar rally-raid competitions and is based on the Mitsubishi Pajero. It was primarily developed from 1984 onwards to win the Dakar Rally.
Mitsubishi took part in the Dakar Rally for the first time in 1985 with the Pajero Evolution prototype, which was initially produced exclusively for competitions, and won it a total of 12 times with this vehicle up to 2007, which means that it is still number one in the Dakar manufacturer rankings today.
The car is a limited edition three-door concept vehicle designed with a short wheelbase for optimum maneuverability. As prototypes were no longer permitted in the FIA T3 class from 1997, Mitsubishi began production of a model approved for road use in order to homologate the Pajero Evolution for the T2 class. Between 1997 and 1999, 2693 units based on the three-door Pajero V20 were produced and sold.
The road-legal models are powered by a 280 hp 3.5-liter V6 MIVEC with forged connecting rods. They have all-wheel drive with Torsen differential locks, underride protection, a widened body, rear spoiler, an air scoop on the hood and independent wheel suspension.
This Pajero truly has a lot to tell, as it was demonstrably owned by the British professional boxing world champion “Prince” Naseem Hamed for 18 years, during which time it was only driven 19,000 km.
With a mileage of only 39,000 km, this vehicle is an absolute highlight!
