If you wanted to be among the front runners in rallying in the nineties, you needed a compact all-wheel-drive vehicle with race-oriented features.
In 1991, Mazda presented the 323 GT-R at the IAA, an evolution model of the all-wheel drive compact car to compete against Lancia Delta Integrale or Ford Escort RS Cosworth.
Large fog lights in the front gunnel and additional air intakes on the hood showed its purpose. The four-cylinder engine with 1840 cc, 16 valves, two overhead camshafts, turbocharger and intercooler produces 185 hp at 6000 rpm.
The Mazda 323 GTR is a model , which was produced only from 1992 to 1994 in a limited series of 2,200 copies and is today even more considered a highly sought-after collector vehicle.
