No doubt, the Audi R8 is still one of the most beautiful sports coupes the market has to offer. When the mid-engine sports car was unveiled to the public in 2006, it was considered the first true German sports car capable of scratching the iconic Porsche 911. To this end, the R8 combined Teutonic thoroughness with Italian grandeur. The latter included its kinship with the Lamborghini Gallardo. At the time, Lambo was still quite fresh in the VW Group and the option of joint design in this case spurred both brands. However, Audi eschewed riotous design features in the style of its sister or subsidiary brand for the R8 and created a rather elegant sports car that can still impress with its lines today. Modifications were not really necessary over the life of the vehicle.

Grandezza unfolds the engine. Contrary to common belief, the original V10 did not come from Lamborghini, but actually from Audi, before it found its way over the Alps into the Gallardo.

The ten-cylinder engine has been available in the R8 since 2009. It revs at lightning speed up to 8,000 rpm and delivers 386 kW/525 hp. The maximum torque of 530 Newton meters is available at 6,500 revolutions – a real sports engine.
